Just another video from my fav, Bat For Lashes, aka Natasha Khan. Pakistan-born and England-raised, she has an art school education (University of Brighton) in which her focus was multi-media/sound installations, animations and performance.
She’s just brilliant, and this video is awesome. Enjoy.
(Here’s something to pep up your lunch break.)
So, I may be a little late in discovering Animal Collective since this amazing song came out 3 years and 4 albums ago, but I discovered them nonetheless! It must count for something! Haven’t stopped listening to them all week. This song comes from their LP Merriweather Post Pavilion (2009.)
According to Wiki, the band is “originally from Baltimore, Maryland, currently based in New York City and Lisbon.” (Umm … cool.)
Zola Jesus is probably the best thing that has ever come out of Madison, Wisconsin.
Wow, that’s totally rude. Let’s start over.
Zola Jesus is Nika Roza Danilova, a Russian-American 22-year-old from the forests of Wisconsin. She recorded her first full-length album in her dorm room one winter while attending University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2009 … but you can read all about that on Wikipedia.
I first heard this song and this artist on an NPR playlist last year. My first impression was “Woah.” Hope you enjoy.
